Christian Dada: Men's and Women's show Autumn/Winter 2018/19 (with interview)

Designer: Masanori Morikawa Inspiration: Round décor with live drummers and the spiral as the key element in this new collection, expressing at the same time, human evolution, change as a new starting point and the philosophy of Yin & Yang. The designer adds that the artistic work and major films of David Lynch also acted as strong inspiration. Collection: Mixed. The Japanese designer plays around with fluidity and comfort, everything is proposed in loose suits, with padded shoulders, and trousers with high waists and kimono style fastening. Japanese materials such as cotton, denim and also leather are found in this collection with flared jeans for the women and bombers in a range of materials for the men. To note: the collaborations with Kappa and Dickies, notably on the running jackets, t-shirts and reworked trousers with the designer’s humour in the collection. Interview: In the beginning actually I was inspired by the artwork of David Lynch which coils like a spiral, like a spiral which means kind of the evolution of the human, then I used David Lynch’s movie as well so Blue Velvet, Mulholland Drive, also Eraserhead, so I use the rose and spiral as well, so that’s why I use the rose I focus on japanese fabric as well like Japanese leather, japanes fabric, also Kimono fabric as well, which is inspired by David Lynch. The bomber is actually iconic so if you are making a bomber jacket, let’s add some irony and I try to add some everywhere.
